SOLO THEATRE 1 w/ award-winning solo theatre artist and playwright, Alice Eve Cohen

Solo Theatre is a deeply fulfilling performance medium, and this is a great time to create a solo show! In this introduction to solo theatre, you will choose a story from your life and explore ways to dramatize your story for the stage. Guided meditation and writing exercises will help you find the story you want to develop. Through collaboration in pairs and small groups, you will use your story as a springboard to create characters and try out various modes of storytelling. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have the start of a solo theatre piece based on a story from your life.

One of the great things about Solo Theatre is that it gives you autonomy as an artist. You don’t have to wait for theatres to open or for the gatekeepers to choose your work. This workshop will help you find the story you want to tell and the way you want to tell it. The class is ideal for actors and writers interested in creating and performing their own work.

Class will take place on Saturday, Sept 26, 2020 from 3PM to 5:30PM (ET) via ZOOM. The event will start off with an introduction by AMCP, followed by the masterclass led by Alice. Wear clothes that are comfortable for moving in and bring a notebook and pen. The event will finish with an informal discussion and Q&A about solo theatre.

Instructions and the ZOOM link for access to this online event will be emailed to you in advance. If you have not received the link by 12pm (EST) the day-of the event, please reach out to info@amcpny.com at least one hour PRIOR to the start of class.

Please keep in mind that all programs at AMCP are for educational and professional development purposes. Participating in any class or event is not a promise of employment.
